The local-first Fireflies.ai alternative
Fireflies.ai is built for teams that want every call searchable and synced into a CRM. That works well if your whole company is on it. If you're a consultant, a freelancer, or one person who just wants the recording without a bot and a subscription, Fireflies brings more cloud than you need. Autorec keeps it local and one-time.
People rarely leave a meeting notetaker because it stopped working. They leave for three reasons, and Autorec was built to fix all of them.
A bot in the call is awkward
Fireflies sends a notetaker bot into the call, and it appears in the participant list. Guests and clients notice. Autorec records the meeting window from your own desktop, so no extra participant ever appears.
Every call ends up in someone else's cloud
Fireflies stores recordings and transcripts in its cloud and is built to push that data into other systems. Autorec keeps the recording, the transcript, and the summary on your disk. Nothing is uploaded, and the app sends no telemetry.
The per-seat bill keeps climbing
Fireflies charges $18 per user per month. For a small team over a couple of years that adds up to hundreds of dollars per seat. Autorec is €20 once. The free tier covers 3 recordings per 24 hours at 40 minutes each.

| Works offline | Yes. Recording and transcription run with no internet connection. | No, needs an internet connection. |
Where Autorec is the wrong choice
Autorec is single-user. There is no team admin, no shared library, and no analytics dashboard. It has no mobile app and no CRM integrations, and it doesn't do anything live during the call. macOS is in development and not shipped yet. If your team needs a shared searchable archive or CRM sync, a cloud tool is the better fit, and this page is not trying to talk you out of it.
Common questions
Does Autorec sync to my CRM like Fireflies?
No. Autorec has no CRM integrations. It produces files on your disk: an MP4, a .txt transcript, an .srt subtitle file, and a summary. If CRM sync is central to your workflow, Fireflies is the better fit and Autorec is not trying to replace it.
Can my team share recordings the way Fireflies does?
Not through Autorec. It is a single-user app with no shared library or team admin. You can share an individual recording file the way you would any other file, but there is no central workspace.
Which meeting platforms does Autorec detect?
Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. Autorec notices when one of those calls starts and begins recording without a bot joining the meeting.
Is the transcription as accurate as Fireflies?
Autorec transcribes on-device with whisper.cpp, a strong open model. Quality depends on the audio and the model size you pick. The trade-off is that nothing is sent to a server to do it.
