Getting Started
Get autorec installed and recording in under five minutes.
Installation
Linux
AppImage (all distros):
- Download the
.AppImagefile from your purchase email or the customer portal - Make it executable:
chmod +x autorec-*.AppImage - Run it:
./autorec-*.AppImage
Debian / Ubuntu (.deb):
sudo dpkg -i autorec_*.deb Fedora / RHEL (.rpm):
sudo rpm -i autorec-*.rpm Windows
- Download the
.exeinstaller from your purchase email - Run the installer and follow the prompts
- Autorec will appear in your system tray
First Launch
When you launch autorec for the first time:
- The app starts minimized to your system tray
- A notification confirms that meeting detection is active
- Open the settings window from the tray icon to configure your preferences
Recording Your First Meeting
- Join a meeting in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Google Meet
- Autorec detects the meeting automatically and starts recording
- A tray notification confirms recording has started
- When the meeting ends, recording stops automatically
- The recording appears in your Video Library — open it from the tray menu
What Happens After Recording
After each recording, autorec automatically:
- Generates a thumbnail for the video library
- Transcribes the recording (if a transcription model is downloaded)
- Creates .srt subtitle files alongside the video
- Generates an AI summary (if configured with an API key)
